FAQ
1. How long does shipping take?
Processing: 1‑3 business days (fabric storage boxes); 3‑7 business days (bookshelves, sofas). Shipping: 5‑10 days for small items; bookshelves/sofas via freight: 7‑20 business days (contiguous US). You’ll receive tracking via email.
2. What are shipping costs?
Calculated at checkout based on weight/destination. Bookshelves and sofas may have separate freight charges. Free standard shipping on qualifying orders.
3. Do you ship outside the contiguous US?
Currently, only to the contiguous 48 states.
4. Do items require assembly?
-
Children‘s bookshelves: Yes, require assembly (attaching shelves, back panels, hardware). Instructions included.
-
Fabric storage boxes: Some require assembly (folding); others ready to use.
-
Reading small sofa: Yes, require assembly (attaching legs, hardware). Instructions included. Often requires two people.
5. What types of children’s bookshelves do you offer?
We offer low‑height bookshelves, front‑facing display shelves, and standard bookcases designed for children’s rooms. Materials: solid wood, engineered wood (MDF), non‑toxic finishes.
6. What safety standards do your bookshelves meet?
-
Furniture stability (if ≥27″ tall with enclosed storage): For bookshelves that meet CPSC‘s Clothing Storage Unit (CSU) criteria (free‑standing, height ≥27 inches, mass ≥30 pounds, enclosed storage volume ≥3.2 cubic feet), they comply with 16 CFR Part 1261, which adopts ASTM F2057‑23 as the mandatory safety standard. Requirements include:
-
Stability tests simulating a child up to 60 lbs interacting with the unit on both hardwood and carpet
-
Anti‑tip device meeting ASTM F3096 (tested to 60 lb static load) — must be anchored to the wall
-
Warning label at least 2 inches by 2 inches with the signal word panel “WARNING” and a three‑panel child climbing symbol
-
-
Lead in surface coatings (16 CFR Part 1303): Any paint or coating must not exceed 90 ppm lead.
-
Formaldehyde (CARB ATCM Phase 2 / 40 CFR Part 770): Composite wood components (MDF, particleboard) comply with ≤0.05 ppm formaldehyde emissions.
-
General stability: For shorter units not meeting CSU criteria, ASTM general stability standards apply.
7. What safety standards do your fabric storage boxes meet?
Our fabric storage boxes comply with:
-
Flammability (16 CFR Part 1610): Fabric components are tested for surface burning rate. Class 1 (normal flammability) is acceptable; Class 3 (rapid and intense burning) is banned. All our boxes are Class 1 compliant.
-
CPSIA (if intended for children 12 and under): Lead in substrate ≤100 ppm, lead in surface coating ≤90 ppm, phthalates (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, DNOP) ≤0.1% total content.
-
16 CFR Part 1130 tracking labels: For applicable children’s storage products, permanent labels with manufacturer name, production date, batch number, and country of origin on product and packaging.
-
Small parts warning (16 CFR § 1500.19): If the box contains detachable small parts (buttons, zipper pulls) that fit within a 1.25‑inch choke tube, labeled: “WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD – Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.”
-
FTC Textile Labeling (16 CFR Part 303): Permanent label disclosing fiber content, country of origin, and manufacturer RN.
-
FTC Care Labeling Rule (16 CFR Part 423): Permanent care instructions attached.
8. Do I need product registration cards for children’s storage items?
For any children‘s product intended for children under 5 years of age, 16 CFR Part 1130 requires durable infant/toddler products to include permanent tracking labels and a postage‑paid product registration card attached to the product surface so the consumer must notice and handle the form after purchase. The card must state: “Consumer registration information will be used only for safety alerts or recall notifications and will not be used for any other purpose.” Free-standing bookshelves and storage boxes that fall under durable infant/toddler products require registration cards.
9. What safety standards do your reading small sofas meet?
Our children’s reading sofas comply with:
-
Flammability (California TB 117‑2013 / 16 CFR Part 1640): All upholstered furniture sold in the U.S. must meet the federal smolder resistance standard (16 CFR Part 1640). Our sofas are tested and bear the permanent label: “Complies with U.S. CPSC requirements for upholstered furniture flammability.”. The California TB 117‑2013 standard eliminates the need for added flame retardant chemicals while maintaining fire safety.
-
CPSIA (if intended for children 12 and under): Lead in substrate ≤100 ppm, lead in surface coating ≤90 ppm, phthalates ≤0.1%.
-
Fabric flammability (16 CFR Part 1610): Cover fabrics are Class 1 compliant.
-
16 CFR Part 1130 tracking labels (if under age 5): Durable infant/toddler products require permanent tracking labels and product registration cards.
-
Small parts warning: If detachable parts present and product intended for children under 3, choking hazard labeling required.
10. What are tracking labels?
Per 16 CFR Part 1130, durable infant/toddler products must be permanently marked with:
-
The name of the domestic manufacturer or importer of record
-
U.S. address and phone number (toll‑free if available)
-
Model name and number
-
Date of manufacture
This is in addition to general CPSIA tracking label requirements for children‘s products. Do not remove tracking labels.
11. Do your products require a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)?
Yes. For products intended for children 12 and under (bookshelves, fabric storage boxes, sofas), we provide a Children‘s Product Certificate (CPC) based on third‑party testing at a CPSC‑accepted laboratory. The CPC certifies compliance with applicable CPSC safety rules (16 CFR Part 1261 for CSUs, 16 CFR Part 1610 for textiles, CPSIA lead/phthalates) and includes product identification, manufacturer/importer information, date and place of manufacture, testing dates, and third‑party laboratory identification.
12. What is the General Certificate of Conformity (GCC)?
For general‑use products (bookshelves not intended for children 12 and under), we provide a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) available upon request, certifying compliance with 16 CFR Part 1261 / ASTM F2057‑23, 16 CFR Part 1303, and CARB ATCM Phase 2 based on testing or a reasonable testing program.
